History brought to life
The St. Olav historical play at Stiklestad and the St. Olav festival in Trondheim are major, annual events on the Trøndelag cultural calendar. At Steinvikholm castle, each year the midnight opera attracts the best of Norwegian and local opera stars. We can almost guarantee that you will be spellbound by the combination of the lighting, surroundings and the captivating story. Trøndelag is a Mecca for historical plays, many of which tell fascinating stories that will make you forget the present.

Museums and exhibitions
The Trøndelag Folk Museum at Sverresborg is an open-air museum with over 60 old buildings from the local region. At Ringve you will find the National Museum of Music and Musical Instruments, which has collections from around the world. Along the coastline there are several museums dedicated to the history of the coast. A large number of other museums and galleries exhibit art and handicrafts, or house displays about industrial and military history.

Festivals
Each year, the big festivals attract tens of thousands of people to the region, and whether you like rock, classical music, jazz or blues, you will be sure to find something to suit your taste. Various smaller festivals also maintain high standards and are becoming increasingly popular. The Trøndelag Food Festival is held in Trondheim each year. There you can taste and buy the very best food products that Trøndelag has to offer. In Høylandet, there is a national revue festival every second year.
